Time is such a hungry beast

I found myself saying, "We're seriously still in Italy?" about five-thousand times when we walked the streets of Bolzano. The center of town looks like a German village and it seemed like half the people there were speaking German anyway. But it is Italy. A strange little Italian/German hybrid town that is probably one of the most beautiful places we have visited (and that's saying something).

Lucky for us, we had a beautiful resident to guide us about, buy our lunch (thanks again!) and take us to a castle that was built into a cliff. It feels fitting to wrap up our time in Italy with her. She was, after all, the first face I saw when we landed in Bologna all those months ago. And now, she's one of the last before we take off.

If this girl gets any sillier . . .
I'm glad we fit a few more day trips into our time here. When Mike first got accepted I remember looking at a map and saying, Greece! Greece is just a stones throw away! Oh, let's go to Turkey! Look how close Jerusalem is! Do you think we could make it to Spain? France? the U.K.? Africa!?

Then reality set it: Mike's grad school. Grad school is hard. He doesn't have time to watch a movie much less take a trip every weekend. Oh, and then there this baby with a sleep schedule thing who isn't as entertained by churches and sight seeing and beautiful views from the top of church windows . . .

But we've done a fair share of traveling, and with baby-in-tow I'd say we've done a pretty good job. Plus, it just means we'll have to make it back.

Bummer ;)
